Catching Tarpon in Georgia

Well its summer time and the only thing I love more than catching tarpon Georgia is watching my clients battle is out with the Silver King. The day started early around 6:30am and the fish were everywhere when we arrived at our first stop. Patrick picked up a spinning rod with a large Creek Chub topwater on it and began to cast it at fish that were blasting bait before the sun was above the horizon. It didn't take long and a fish came and took a look at the plug. Pat said he had just had a fish swirl on the plug so we all watched to see if the fish would return. He twitched the plug and the fish slammed it. Pat set up on the fish but son after the hooks pulled. As the tide went slack the fish did as well and we didnt see another fish roll until we made a move north about 45 minutes away. We stopped and got set up. We saw a fish roll and then one of the rods doubled over and a huge fish aired it out. We knew the fish was big but as Brand faught it we had no idea how big it was until it rolled up next to the boat about 45 min. after the hookup. I was speechless and as Pat and I put the tape to the fish we realized how big it was. The fish measured 84 inches long (8feet) and had a girth of 39 inches. After releasing the fish we did some math and realized we had just released a fish over 200 pounds!! Way to go Brand.... Pictures coming soon.
