Fishing and Boating Knots
Our Favorite Web Resource
For some years now, our favorite website for teaching knot-tying is Animated Knots by Grog. This website provides a comprehensive selection of the most commonly usd knots for Boating and Fishing. Other sections are devoted to different activities, e.g., Climbing and Rope Care.
Each section provides two indexes: 1. pictures of the knots with an introduction about the features of the knots used for that activity; and, 2. a list of the various uses needed, e.g., Creating a Loop, Attaching a Hook, etc. The website provides useful advice about safety and the breaking strength of line and rope after a knot has been tied. Finally, there is also an alphabetical list of welll over a hundred knots.
Each Knot is illustrated with a series of steps which the visitor can control manually, or can view as either a rapid or slow automatic sequence. The pictures are accompanied by a description and notes on tying the knot.
For anyone going boating or fishing, this is the ideal resource to provide essential, practical information. We are pleased to recommend it.
