Spent the day with Louis Cahill showing him a section of some new wild trout water high up in the mountains. We had a banner day fly fishing for wild rainbow and brown trout. It’s the most fun I’ve had fly fishing in a long time. Just goes to show, you don’t have to catch huge trout to have a blast. Pure bred trout in full of colors are becoming so rare these days I’m finding it more rewarding than ever to catch them.

It’s truly hard to beat throwing size 10 dry flies and watching a wild trout gently sucking in your offering. We saw some pretty spectacular rises that day on the water. Every trout we landed had a stomach slam fool of bugs. We joked about them being little footballs.

The big bugs are hatching are higher elevation trout streams, and the frequent rains and great water levels have the bug numbers up. The trout are taking advantage by gorging themselves. If we continue to be blessed with good rains throughout the summer the wild trout are going to grow considerably this season.

I’ll post more photos after my guide trip tomorrow. Great photography Louis!!!
